ADRIAN HELPS THE DOLPHINS

Adrian Alonso is a 13 years old actor best known for the role of Joaquin in the Legend of Zorro.

He made an appearance in a short TV documentary for the "Animal Planet" channel, also featuring the actor Fernando Carrera.
Adrian defends the dolphins. “Dolphins are dogs from the sea, if you are drowning, they bring you back to the cost, poachers must not kill them, they are nice and love to play. I will probably appear in another TV Documentary for Animal Planet” said Adrian.

Adrian also went to the 2007 Cancun film festival for a screening of La Misma Luna (Under the same moon). He plays the role of a boy living in Mexico who crosses the Mexican/US Border to reunite with his mother.
This movie, also starring Kate Del Castillo and Eugenio Derbez will come out in March 2008.

“It was a great experience, plus having a mother such as Kate... how many kids would not have her as their mom!” He joked.

Singer and Director
Adrian is currently learning how to sing with his teacher Lula. He is also writting a script called “Tentativamente Ayuda” (Trying to help). The story is about a little girl involved in prostitution.

“I wanna sing and try to record an album, and if i cant, i will still doing what i love: acting.” Said Adrian.

Adrian would also like to be a director, he already did 2 or 3 short films. He would like to direct his own movie next year. “My movie is about is girl who gets involved in prostitution to help getting money for her little sister who has asthma. The mother doesnt have any money to buy the medicines so her daughter find this way to make “easy money”, but her little sister die.” said Adrian. “I dont really like comedy, im more into drama. A friend will help me to finish the script” he said..

FOREIGN EXCHANGE STAR

Adrian Alonso, the star of Patricia Riggen's Spanish-language drama "Under the Same Moon," went to sleep on Aug. 21 believing Javier Bardem had nabbed 2008's Imagen Award for best actor. When Alonso woke up the following morning, he found out he'd won.

"I couldn't believe it. I thought it was definitely going to Bardem," Alonso says with a laugh.

His triumph, Riggen says, isn't a surprise, considering how "perfect" Alonso was in the role of Carlitos, a nine-year-old Mexican boy who recklessly crosses the border to find his mother in Los Angeles. "He was the perfect combination: exactly like working with an adult but with the purity of a child," she gushes.

If that sounds biased, consider Boston Globe critic Ty Burr's review: "Mostly Riggen is lucky to have Adrian Alonso playing the boy, Carlitos Reyes. He's not a little heartthrob but a solid, serious kid -- he'll be a truck when he grows up."

There are actors who wait their entire careers for that kind of praise, but Riggen says this is just the beginning of Alonso's "great, long career as a tremendous character actor."

"We just need to get him in rooms with casting agents," adds Featured Artists Agency's Brian Dreyfuss, who co-reps Alonso with Thor Bradwell. "As you saw in the film, he can do everything. He gets very passionate about his characters and can do all the genres."

Although "Under the Same Moon" only shows Alonso speaking a few lines of English, the 14-year-old actor, who made his Hollywood debut as Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones' son in "The Mask of Zorro," is fluent and says he's been studying English for four years.

"I want to work in Hollywood," he says, "I want to act in America, in Mexico, in Africa -- it doesn't matter. What matters is the roles."

Riggen can't recommend young Alonso enough: "He brings so much to the table, he's a natural," she says. "I think of him as our next Anthony Quinn."

Recent breakthrough: His praised performance in "Under the Same Moon" has been recognized with Imagen and Young Artist awards.

Role model: "Al Pacino is my favorite actor. I love 'The Godfather.'"

What's next: "Left in L.A.," a script written specifically for Alonso, will be shopped around this month: "It's a comedy like 'Home Alone,'" he says.

ADRIAN ALONSO GIVES FLAVOR TO SOCCER

During his role “Mensajerito Tang” reporter, the actor Adrian Alonso shared his passion for soccer with Latin youth living in the United States

When you are 14 and you are an actor, it may be difficult to hang out with kids your age and practice the sport you love. So when Adrian Alonso had the opportunity to work on this new project that combined soccer, kids and Tang, he could not refuse it.

At the end of the MLS Tang, Adrian Alonso talked to us about his experience as Mensajerito Tang! Alonso, best known for his role in the movie "Under the Same Moon" (winner of the 2008 ALMA for Best Film), accepted the role of Mensajerito Tang to introduce seven new flavors of Tang to families. "I like Tang a lot because it’s fresh, rich in fruit, and my favorite flavor is mango, it contains vitamins." Alonso was a part of Verano MLS presented by Tang, who thanked the alliance between Tang and the Major League Soccer (MLS). This was a program that offered to Latin families a safe place for recreation and at the same time allowed young people between 8 and 12 years old to play soccer twice a week for free, receiving training of professionals of the MLS Local teams . But the best of all was that the Mexican young actor did his role in a fun atmosphere. "For me the most important thing is to be a normal kid and have the opportunity to share with other children my passion for sport and I loved to talk to their moms about how delicious Tang is. I thrilled to see that children, like me, have dreams. I want to be the best actor in the world and they want to be the best players. Besides, I was able to travel through several cities in the United States, and see that there are Latino children who live in places other than Mexico and speak english. This experience was very good" said Alonso.

During the MLS Tang, Alonso was able to test the various flavors of Tang : horchata, jamaica, mango, strawberry, lemon, pineapple and orange. They were able to find that Latinos identify themselves to the new flavors, they are very good for families and they reminds childhood to the mothers, and the traditions they share with their families.

"I was very impressed to see such more than 250 children and parents in Dallas, lining up to get my autograph and a glass of Tang. In Houston, there were like 200 people. It was very nice for me because i found that no matter where we live, we are children" said 14 year old actor who want to study filmmaking and directing in England when he grows up and who also want to share this experience with all his friends from school.

"Working with Adrian during the Summer MLS program presented by Tang was a great experience. His talent and enthusiasm for this project contributed greatly to the success of it," said Robyn Safran, director of brand for Tang. "Our goal was to present the new flavors of Tang to the community and the best way to do that was to create a fun atmosphere with families, along with a charismatic “Mensajerito Tang” as Adrian." Tang, in addition to being rich in flavor, contains vitamins present in fruits, as well as calcium and Vitamin E, which becomes a tasty and nutritious option that facilitates the daily work in homes.

And now that Alonso completed Mensajerito Tang, what will be his next projects? "Well, I will go back to school and my fans will be able to see me in two movies I’m currently working on, Parking Lot and One Long Night, both will be come out later this year".

GROWING UP TOO FAST

Adrian Alonso, the kid from "Under the same moon" and the son of Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones in "The Legend of Zorro", is growing up and faces the problem of not finding roles for his age. He is 15 years old and almost none of the available movie characters meet that requirement.

"I was off work for several months, if I had to be responsible of my parents, they would have starved", said Adrian during a break from filming "La Leyenda de las Arcas".

In this movie, directed by Hugo Rodriguez (Nicotiana), Adrian plays a young skateboarder who falls in love with a girl (Ilse Zamarripa) and soon becomes involved in a treasure hunt, allegedly from the Mexican independence day.

This is the first time in his career that he is playing in a movie with so much action. In Innocent Voices, his character was killed by the Salvadoran army. In "Al otro lado", his character was suffering that his father left and in "Como No Te Voy A Querer" he was playing a bad boy.

Under The same moon, in which he played a child who was looking for his mother, allowed him to get the best picture award of Latino talent, beating on the same panel, Javier Bardem and becoming the golden child of the Mexican cinema.

Is "La leyenda de las arcas" your last movie as a teen ?

I'd say it's my first movie as a teen. In parking lot (upcoming movie) I am neither one nor the other, I'm having more work to get papers, but no matter, they said they would come to pass. In Mexico almost no films for teenagers. To make a year, would be nice. .

Are you afraid to be the most popular child in the cinema? the "Golden Child"

(Laugh) Of course i'm not! I'm a normal child. People only know me because i've been in some big movies. I'm just afraid not to find new movie roles. so I'm gonna direct my own short, about teenagers, so people will see what teenagers can do. If everything goes well, we will film in december.

The short film Adrian told us about is called "Help" and is about a teen who gets involved in prostitution to save her little sister.

It would be the third short film of the young actor as a director, indeed, he already directed a 6mins short film called "Caos y Amigos en guerra", and another one called "Lo que siente un niño", about a child who predicts bad things to people.

The video camera Adrian will use to film his short film is the present from Antonio Banderas, and he will be editing it on the computer offered by Martin Campbell (Director of The Legend of Zorro). .

Are you big-headed because of your fame ?

Do you really think this could happen to me ? The truth is that my family always tells me that im famous for a lot of people. If the press wanna come on set for an interview, why not!

What about your project in America "Left in L.A" ?

"We are waiting too see who is going to buy the rights between Disney and Fox . Hopefully we will be starting working on it soon.

Do you use your awards as bathroom door holders like some others ?

No i never did that! I have them in a glass case, mine are in the middle and my brother's soccer awards are above mine.

Do you still support the American soccer team ?
Why ? Is there another team ?

Do your classmates tease you about the fact that you are an actor ?

"Yeah a while ago. Now I try not to talk about my job. I only talk about it when my friends ask me to. They try to see me as a friend and not an actor, but sometimes they ask me if they can go to the filming only to meet the other actors.

Do you realize that you have had the most beautiful moms in your movies ?
(Laugh) Since I was born I knew I was going to have beautiful moms, but I think i could have had better ones. Catherine Zeta-Jones is horrible, Alicia Machado (in I love Miami) looks like Miss Universe, not good. and Kate del Castillo I assume that I slept with her in a scene (La misma luna) and she was hugging me all the time and everything. thats ok! (note: it was a joke).

How was your relationship with John Rhys-Davies (the Lord of the Rings) ?
"It was fun. He had to speak Spanish on set and when he didnt know how to say something i would help him. I like it. But in truth i only remember him from "Princess's Diary 2", where he plays the bad guy.

What does a boy when he earns money ?
The movie i earn is in a blocked bank account until im 18. When I will get it, I want to buy a depa, a car, and travel with my girlfriend. I told my dad to let me buy a laptop with my money but he didnt allow me! Then he offered me the laptop!!
